The 6 best shops when staging your house to sell

When preparing your house to sell, time and money are often in short supply so I’ve done the hard yards for you and chosen my six top  stores for home staging.  Some of these stores e.g. IKEA offer a 1 stop shop. Others, like Beacon are more focussed. All offer value for money. Remember, staging is all about return on your investment. The idea is to get a great effect for a great price. Another bonus for 4 out of the 6 shops is that they offer online shopping. This is perfect if you’re not in an urban area or you’ve been de-cluttering all day or have young kids and only have time to shop at night.

Pillow Talk

Most of us live near a Pillow Talk store and if you don’t you can order on line. They have a great range of bedlinen and towels at all price points and are also very strong on accessories and cushions (and we all know we can never have too many of those). The Bedlinen below is from Aura and is bang on the chevron trend.  It’s also currently half price

Target

A first port of call if you are looking for decorative storage baskets, value canvas artwork, bed linen and lighting. The artwork below is an amazing value $24  (60cm x 60cm) down from $49 and is available on Target’s online shop.

Beacon Lighting

Most houses are too dimly lit so additional lighting is usually required. Beacon have a fantastic range of value ceiling lights but also table lamps and pendant lights. This Bahamas pendant is $103 (down $25). Beacon offer online shopping.

IKEA

If you’ve read my blog before you will know I’m a fan of IKEA for home staging.  Ready made curtains, cheap and cheerful accessories, rugs and occasional furniture are all great buys. For more on IKEA see a recent blog of my top picks from the 2013 catalogue for staging

Freedom

If you are looking for ready made blinds and curtains (even shower curtains!) then you need to check out Freedom. They have a great range in neutral colours. I also like Freedom for their lighting section.  If you want to stage an outside area they have one of the best ranges of outdoor furniture and accessories. The shower curtain below is new and is just $20

Masters

Not everyone has a Masters near them (Masters is like a spruced up Bunnings) but there are now a few in Brisbane. If you are looking for value artwork (that doesn’t shout IKEA) then Masters is great and set out by colour so you can’t go wrong. Also worth a buy is their range of hardware – new taps, door handles etc and paint (obviously). Their rug selection is a fantastic price for the quality and the lighting also worth a look. For a post I wrote on Masters click here  The Rug below is just $99 for a standard size.

Happy shopping!

  1. Fine way of telling, and good piece of writing to obtain data about my
presentation subject, which i am going to present in school.

  2. ib69 says:

Yes, Masters is great (and not only because the toilets are good!)

  3. I hadn’t thought of Masters but agree they have some amazingly great stuff for the house at fantastic prices. Totally agree with all the other choices too:)
