Top 10 quick fix products for ugly problems when staging your house to sell

I’d better start by saying this is NOT a sponsored post but I just had to share with you the amazing products from Rust-oleum. If you are staging your house and especially if your house is a bit tired  & dated then you need to know about these products.

Home staging is all about return on investment and the Rust-oleum products deliver this in spades.

Here are some common home staging problems and the products to solve them:

1. Ugly or dated countertop

Kitchens sell a house and countertops sell a kitchen. If yours needs a freshen or is an ugly colour you need Countertop Transformations. This product doesn’t just paint over your existing top it helps to give the look of desirable stone. Great for bathrooms too.

2. Ugly view or lack of privacy from the bathroom window

Frosted glass is the best solution for this. Rust-oleum’s frosted glass product is the best way of gaining extra privacy, less ugliness and still let light into the room

3. A BBQ that’s past its best.

In Australia, staging the outside is as important as the inside. If your BBQ is letting you down this high heat resistant spray paint is the answer. Available in Black, Silver and white

4. Boring white kitchen appliances.

Stainless Steel kitchen appliances appeal more than their boring white counterparts. Upgrade to a stainless steel look easily with Stainless Steel

5. Coloured or damaged bath tub, sink or shower tray

I love this product. A coloured or damaged bath can take thousands off the price of your house as most people assume that it will need ripping out which equals time and effort. Re-surface it instead with Tub and Tile

6. Dated kitchen or bathroom cabinets

Not a quick fix this but could potentially add thousands to the price of your house especially if your units are shiny pine! Products needed here are B-I-N Primer Sealer and Universal all surface spray paint. For instructions click here

7. Dark wooden panelling

I’m not talking about the beautiful heritage panelling that you find in some Queenslanders. No, I’m talking about that 1970’s sauna style panelling that I see in a lot in areas such as Chapel Hill and Kenmore (see photo below). The product here is B-I-N Primer and sealer. followed by your regular top coat. Here’s what you do

8. Dated cabinet handles

If you have cheap looking plastic or dated brass effect handles on any of your cabinets then spray painting handles in Universal Metallic Titanium Silver will do the trick. Much cheaper than buying all new and they fit right back in their original places

9. Mirror the wrong colour or just plain ugly

Spray your mirror with Universal Satin White or another colour from the Universal All surface spray. Great for bathrooms or over a console table in your entrance.

10. Gold shower surround

Finally, and I think this is my favourite, an answer to dated shower screens that are gold in colour!  Universal All surface spray will bring it back to silver, black or white. I prefer Silver or white to the black below (actually I think its Oil rubbed bronze)but you get the idea.

  1. While you can get a more traditional look with conservative
colors such as white, black, or brown, painting kitchen cabinets is also an excellent way
to add some pizzazz to your home as there are a wide
variety of colors to choose from. The beginning of the bath tub refinishing project will require cleaning by the use of a special acid.
Refinishing is performed by a professional using a version of acrylic enamel, and usually takes a few hours
    to perform.
