Home Staging – It’s not just a club for elites.

When I tell people I’m a home stager their response is usually either “what’s that?” or “that’s furnishing posh properties to sell, isn’t it?” Well yes. But mostly no.

Home staging is a relatively new concept in Australia. Until it is better understood by vendors, agents, and stagers themselves, misconceptions will remain.

Here are the three I hear the most.

Home staging is:

  • Just hiring furniture for vacant houses
  • Getting high end houses ready for sale
  • Too expensive for me and my property

Of course, they’re not true. But stagers aren’t helping these views.

We call ourselves different titles: property stylists, home stagers, or interior designers who also provide property styling.

We have different approaches and work to different models. We also unwittingly promote a feeling of ‘that’s not for me’ by showing off the most fabulous looking houses we’ve worked on at the expense of the average property.

If you are reading this and are considering selling your property, I’d like to tell you that home staging, property styling – whatever you’d like to call it – is available to you in your location, at your price point, and in a style that suits your property.

Don’t discount it as an option only for high-end houses or as being too expensive. There are many levels of staging and many options that could work for you.
